BOLIN from THE LEGEND OF KORRA

lok was pretty damn far from having a perfect first season but bolin is inarguably the ONE character that was actually en-pointe the whole time
he was a lovingly written perfect gentleman and as a ””comic relief character”” i hope one day he is awarded the same level of depth and development sokka was because he really deserves it hoo man
korra’s her own gal and everything and she feels what she feels but i can tell you this if i was her i would be on that like white on rice

KIBA INUZAKA from NARUTO

everyone in the WORLD had a giant crush on that one character from their weeb days
and ladies n gents
i am no exception
NARUTO AS A SERIES WILL ALWAYS HAVE A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART and i was all to proud to include my forever boy in this set
i really appreciate the designs of damn near every supporting character in this show and the chunin exam arc remains to this DAY my favorite set of episodes in any anime EVER
and that is thanks in no small part to the appearances of this meddling kid!! and his stupid dog, too!!

what is there to say about link that hasn’t already been said
ahhhhhhh yes
(it’s fun to say ahh yes)
ahem I MADE A POINT OF including his twilight princess design because i FIRMLY believe that game contributes the strongest empathical connection to his character
the mute protagonist speaks volumes through its development and story but anyway
every incarnation of link from EVERY zelda is excellent and don’t you forget it; loz is easily my favorite video game franchise and it always will be!!

CURLY BRACE from CAVE STORY

i’m not surprised if you haven’t heard of cave story, it’s a pixelated indie game that was released back in 2004
what’s truly remarkable about it is that the game in its ENTIRETY was created by ONE PERSON

written, programmed, illustrated, even the SCORE was composed and rendered by ONE DUDE and he did an EXCELLENT job at that
it is a platforming WONDER with immersive and accessible aesthetics, genius gameplay structure, and an engaging and brilliantly conveyed story that will leave you about to cry over your 64-bit screen
the relationship between quote and curly is wholesome and splendid and she is easily the most adorable character in the game!! which is in and of itself is geniunely satisfying i firmly suggest you play it right now if you haven’t already because you can for FREE

BEAT (DAISUKENOJO BITO) from THE WORLD ENDS WITH YOU

twewy is another HUGELY commendable but depressingly underrated game!! goodness gracious it is LITTERED with a whole cast of vastly entertaing characters of ALL makes and models
but beat is the one that had the most significant impact on me; for a few reasons but namely he was a character i never expected to relate to as much as i did
i never fully stipulated with or understood the frustrations endured by those who’ve been overly pressured to succeed and then had to suffer with falling short of the mark because i was lucky enough to be raised in a universally loving and supportive family
but every time this character was potrayed and developed i couldn’t help but give such a firm and respectful nod to the feelings he conveyed and the values he represented
every single line of his dialogue and every single one of his actions, although not always rational or wise, reflects such genuine sincereity and heart and i can’t help but really really admire it

SORA from KINGDOM HEARTS

(ARGH you don’t know how much i wrestled with myself over putting roxas here in his place)
i’ll try to resist gushing but i just want the record to show that i could fill BOOKS with how much i appreciate every single aspect of this giant dork
kingdom hearts is a series that came into my life fairly recently, and i admittedly owe a LOT of newfound happiness to it
partaking in its fandom i’ve found so many new friends and inspirations and i’ve been so motivated to exercise and improve my abilities in arting and writing and the whole deal
so i feel sort of warm and comfortable with being able to personify all those happy sentiments and experiences pertaining to this series here with its protagonist
long story short he’s a gr8 character and his dumb old smile all by itself means the world to me uwu

OLIVER ARMSTRONG from FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST

although the emphasis on gender in phrase ‘female character’ makes me snrk a little, i beseech you, no other series has contestably better female characters than those found in fma
and the snow queen is my favorite of them all!!
she’s a perfect badass and i can only hope i can be as cool as her one day
she literally has it all and she WORKS IT she’s a wise, powerful leader who runs her kingdom like the HBIC she is and she’s a fearless, straight talker without grounds for frivolous shyness or humility
plus she’s frickin hot
god

LUIGI from SUPER MARIO BROS

like most gamers, i hold a special type of respect and fondness for the super mario series
but as you can imagine, being the youngest of 3 siblings, i got my fair shair of second pickings
luigi’s roster slot was no exception, but i never did mind too much!! green is my FAVORITE color
super mario sunshine is one of my favorite games of all time, but no matter where it happens to fall, luigi’s mansion will always be one sleight above it
i’ve got an inexplicable admiration for this lil’ green dude and i really cannot wait for his sequel to come out!!

LUKE TRITON from THE PROFESSOR LAYTON SERIES

nothing satisfies like a layton game solved
and nothing is quite as ADORABLE as THIS strapping young chap
he is an easily relatable example of poise and sass presented in polite little youngin form
i will always /deeply/ appreciate the way characters and dialogue are structured in this series, and i can convey to you wholeheartedly that these games do not make me feel anything other than HAPPY
(although abeit slightly frustrated is a possibility)

THE KID from BASTION

a big dream of mine is to live to see a day where video games are widely accepted as an art form
and bastion itself is a giant LEAP towards the realization of that dream
it’s another indie game, but in a different module of existance
the scenery and aesthetics involved in every square inch of this masterpiece were meticulously and gorgeously hand-painted and the characters and scenarios found therein aren’t all that far off from appearing the same
it’s also topped off with a CHOICE original soundtrack and lively, immersive narration
the vibrance of existance and sheer tone of life breathed into this work of art remains unparralleled for me and this game quickly earned a spot among my favorites
the kid himself, even though he is another silent protag, FAR exceeds the 2Dimensionality he is confined to, and if you want to know what i mean then you’ll have to play the game yourself!!

N (NATURAL HARMONIUS GROPIUS) from POKEMON

*insert me sniggering about uqbroccoli top’s full name*
WHAT I AM ABOUT TO SAY MAY SHOCK AND ASTONISH YOU, but in all honestly i feel totally comfortable calling B&W my favorite pokemon game
this series has been a favorite in my family ever since i was a wee tot, but only recently have i really reveled in and appreciated its existance and significance in my life
and that is thanks to the existance in no small part of this dude right here
to put it bluntly, he is essentially the reason i started taking pokemon seriously
even though the contained gameplay scenarios appeared no more or less risible than usual from over the fourth wall, the role of your 5th gen rival is undeniably striking and surprisingly fleshed-out thanks to your subjective few of the story and your established affections for pokemon as a whole
